We are…

at home...

Although we are from Hawaii, we now live in southern California. Kaleo, me and our potbellied pig, Bella (RIP sweet Bella, 12/12/09). I teach yoga (E-RYT), own a yoga studio, and travel the world with my friends for Girls Gone Global. I also travel frequently to visit my husband Kaleo on tour, and we try to make it home to Hawaii as many times a year that we can. This page is for all our far away friends and family that we miss so much…

  4. Mel,
Birthdays are the best. It’s that persons special day to celebrate their birth. They should be filled with love and hugs and kisses and flowers and balloons and bubbles and great food and wine and phone calls and surprises.
Winnie the Pooh use to buy all of his friends a present on his birthday.
Wishing you a wonderful birthday all month long!!!
    I’ll never forget your “birth”day!!
    Love & Aloha,
    Mom

  5. I never knew that you kids did this in Captain Cook. I did it in Pennsylvania. We need to share stories sometime, how about the Tiki bar?
    Love you,
    Mom

  6. MELONEY!
Oh my goodness I love this!

Sister My head and my heart feel like I just took a yoga class while I was wading through your writing. It is wonderful. I have peace right now.

I love this I love this I love this

    And I love YOU

  7. Love your blog! My son, Billy and I met you a couple years back when we ran into The Wine Loft in Carlsbad. I loved talking with you both and sharing stories of Kona (my home for 8 years). So nice to run into you again!

  8. Hi! Overly curious (and bored) Pepper fan who has come across your blog. Wanted to let you know I think it’s great! I really enjoyed what you wrote about fear and love. I’ve learned to stay positive in life but I’ve never thought about negativity being related to fear. Anyway, just a question, from a strangers point of view your life seems awesome!(travel etc). Did you ever imagine it would be that way? I’m a single mom w/ two boys and …I live in Missouri. Feeling a little hopeless lately. Any words of encouragement?

    • Hi Erica,
First off, I am so sorry it has taken me this long to respond! If I would have seen your comment sooner, I would have written right away. Hopeless feelings are so normal, and they do pass. When you are in the midst of those feelings it feels like nothing will ever change, right? But things DO change. Things get better. Just make sure you are doing something nice for yourself, often. Whether it is making a lovely dinner just for you, taking a long bath, massaging your own feet with a yummy essential oil, watching your favorite movie with popcorn and wine after the boys have gone to bed, having friends over for a slumber party (it’s super fun at any age!)… Something, anything that makes YOU feel good. I’m sure you do everything for your boys, but do not forget about yourself. We don’t have children, but my friends who do have said at times that they are so focused on raising their kids they sometimes put themselves on the back burner. But when they do something nice for themselves, it makes them even happier parents.
I’m sending you lots of love and positive thoughts. Let me know how you are. xo

  9. Oh my gosh! So awesome of you to reply! Right…I am doing better. Been listening to some aweome soul music which is actually really therapeutic. Like uhh Nina Simone, sing it girl! I’ve contemplated starting my own blog once I have more time, even if no one reads it, it will be nice to sit and write (& reflect). Mahalos

  10. Haha! Thanks for the nudge! And your right, I should make sure I’m taking care of myself. I kind of realized today that the more I complain, the more I am taking for granted. Stress makes us better people anyhow..right? We’ll just say that it does!

  12. Hey Melanie!

As you know, I have been loving reading your posts. You are a beautiful person who writes wonderful, inspiring posts.
For this reason, I am nominating you for the Liebster Blog Award. The award is given to a blog with less than 200 followers that deserves a little more recognition. There are a few simple rules that go along with the award. They are as follows as passed on to me:

    1. Give a shout out to the blogger who nominated you by linking back to their blog.
    2. Nominate 5 other blogs with less than 200 followers.
    3. Spread the good blog karma.
Lastly, don’t forget to add the Liebster blog award image to your post.

    Best wishes.

  13. Awh thank you. I’m honored. I don’t plan on stopping, but things have been put on a little hold, as I have become swamped with my studies and keeping up with everything in the “outside world”… leaves me little/no time to write at the moment. But I’ll get back there sometime. 🙂
